Wire Sponge is one of the eight Maverick bosses that appears in Mega Man X2.

Created in a laboratory by Sigma, he suffered an accident that left him with a multiple personality disorder, this accident also made him become more childish, but even so he had impressive good skills in combat, this led Sigma to let him in charge of the Weather Control Center, where he started to play with meteorological systems. In the fight Wire Sponge uses his Strike Chains in which he can turn or defend himself and also throwing his whip against the X. He can also lock himself in the ceiling and then throw his seeds around the arena. When Wire Sponge is low on life, it will draw its electricity so it can shape the lighting bolts. His weakness is the Sonic Slice, but he also is vulnerable to X-Buster and the Speed Burner.
